Kyoto Animation’s CITY THE ANIMATION anime revealed the second main trailer, confirming exclusive streaming on Amazon Prime on July 6. Taichi Ishidate is directing the anime, which recently also dropped a 30-second commercial.
The manga is adapting CITY, another work from Keiichi Arawi, the author of Nichijou: My Ordinary Life. The theme songs for the anime were previously revealed with the first trailer. The opening song is “Hello” by Furui Riho, while the ending song is “LUCKY” by TOMOO. You can hear a preview of the opening song in the new trailer below.
The main voice cast for CITY THE ANIMATION includes Mikako Komatsu as Midori Nagumo, Aki Toyosaki as Nikura, Yui Ishikawa as Wako Izumi, and others. The anime is directed by Taichi Ishidate, with Tamami Tokuyama serving as character designer and chief animation director. Additional staff includes Kana Miyata (color design), Shiori Yamazaki (art direction), Hiroki Ueda (photography direction), Tatsunori Kase (CG direction), and Yota Tsuruoka (sound direction).

Keiichi Arawi’s City manga originally ran from 2016 to 2021 in Kodansha’s Morning magazine, ending with a total of 13 volumes. It then returned after 3 years on December 24, 2024. Vertical Comics licensed the manga in English.
The story follows penniless college student Midori Nagumo as she scrambles to pay her rent in a city full of quirky characters. With her landlady pressuring her and her friend refusing to help, Midori tries everything from petty schemes to odd jobs, all while getting caught up in chaotic city adventures.
