Hatsune Miku Anime is in the Works, Developer Reveals 605x

Hatsune Miku Anime is in the works. This is what developer Crypton Future Media told entertainment website Deadline last February. 12557

Co-developing the animated series with Crypton Future Media are Graphic India and Carlin West Agency (CWA). At present, Graphic India is producing animation series across TV and digital platforms with Disney, Rovio and Amazon among others.

Carlin West Agency handles licensing and marketing of brands such as Pokemon, Miraculous Ladybug and Neopets among others.

Crypton Future Media’s overseas licensing director Guillaume Devigne said they are excited to partner with Graphic India and Carlin West Agency to take Miku “into this new animated series direction.” Devigne also believes that they “have found a way to create an original animated series that stays true to the essence of Miku.” Being a catalyst for fan creativity and artistic expression, he says that this series “will be a major moment for Miku and her fans from around the world.”

On the other hand, CWA Chief Executive Carlin West is excited to partner with Crypton Future Media and Graphic India. “Hatsune Miku’s iconic fashion style and music presence will translate beautifully into a rich and engaging television series for her fans.”

Graphic India Co-Founder and CEO Sharad Devarajan and Carlin West will create the Hatsune Miku anime series. They will also serve as executive producers together with Crypton Future Media CEO Hiroyuki Itoh.

Prior to her animation development, Crypton developed Hatsune Miku for Yamaha’s Vocaloid voice synthesizer. Introduced as a virtual idol, music producers have produced over 100,000 songs with Hatsune Miku.

Her popular songs include Black Rock Shooter, Senbonzakura, World is Mine and Po Pi Po. Some of Miku’s fans have rooted for her own animated series in the past. Also, Miku has opened for Lady Gaga’s 2014 Artpop ball.

Miku was so popular that in 2007, search engines were overwhelmed with the number of searches related to Miku. This led the engines to mark Hatsune Miku as spam, blocking her off the search results. This was resolved afterwards.
