The Sword Art Online franchise is teasing a new movie project that is in production. The announcement was made on the official Twitter/X for the anime series following the first terrestrial broadcast of the The new original movie project was announced in 2022. 4s6t26

Sword Art Online is a light novel series by Reki Kawahara that started in 2009. It spawned multiple TV anime adaptations, movies, manga, and light novels. The latest installment of the TV anime series was Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld: Part II, which aired in the summer of 2020. A movie titled Ordinal Scale also exists.
The Progressive movie series adapts the light novel of the same title, which tells the story of Sword Art Online’s first arc. The light novel written Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec started serialization in 2012 in Dengeki G’s Magazine.
It was recently announced that the Ordinal Scale movie is getting an Ultra HD 4K release, slated for this February. Check out the announcement trailer:
